Reverse Engineer
It was love at first viewing.

On New Year’s Day, I started binge-watching– Bon Appetit’s,  “Reverse Engineering” with Chris Morocco.

The premise.

Supertaster Chris Morocco is challenged to recreate a recipe from a celebrity chef.

The Catch?

He is not allowed to see the food!

Chris can only use his four senses to recreate the dish. He is blindfolded and allowed to touch, smell, hear and taste the food before being asked to make the dish. He then gets a few tries before finally being judged by a Bon Appetit team member.

Warning, if you are a foodie, you’ll find this fascinating and lose several hours of your life.

I was about on my seventh episode when I realized this is exactly what I’ve been trying to do with people skills my entire life.

It was a eureka moment where I connected the dots and saw that I have been trying to reverse engineer charisma for much of my life.

Since childhood, I’ve been trying to figure out the secret to connecting and interacting with others.

I’ve been trying to break down things like:

Why do I feel at ease around John?

Why do I feel uneasy around David?

Why does Heather make me feel small?

How come everyone confides in Adam?

How come I’m okay taking direction from Sandy, but not Barb?

How can Jane walk into the room and make people light up?

What is charisma and how do some people just have “it”?

Studying people and body language has allowed me to tap into some of the things humans do that impact how we are perceived.

There are nonverbal cues constantly being sent and learning how to decode and encode this information provides us with a blueprint for interacting with others.

There are cues for:

Warmth

Confidence

Competence

Active Listening

Charisma

Status

Etc.

And there are cues given out by our:

Environment

Clothes

Posture

Stance

Walk

Haircut

Etc.

Seeing and understanding cues provides awareness. And awareness is power.

Question.
Are you aware of your cues?

Sometimes it helps to reverse engineer things and see what other people are doing to increase their charisma and create presence.

Observing people you admire is a great place to learn what “to do” and what “not to do.”

I recently created a new celebrity charisma 5-day email series where I break down some cues that Freddie Mercury, Lady Diana, George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, and Oprah use.

It’s FREE, and it highlights some of the successful cues that draw people to these celebrities like a gigantic magnet.

If this interests you, sign up below to receive the emails!

Decode the Secret Charisma Techniques Used by Morgan Freeman, Oprah, Freddie Mercury, and More!

Get a new celebrity charisma secret every day for 5 days—and by next week, you’ll have people eating out of the palm of your hand.

I'd love to know...

What well-known person do you know that you find charismatic?

Are you able to identify what makes them so compelling?

Are there any cues you’ve noticed that make them charming?

Tell me more!

I’d love to add to the series and want to know more about who you find charismatic. Do tell!

Your co-pilot (who will be binge-watching more “Revere Engineering” episodes this weekend),

Kristin Bock

P.S.

Tell me who is the most charismatic person you know!

Seriously, I’d love to hear about the person(s) you find most magnetic.
