Irresistible Communication

Last week I introduced you to Roger + Chris, my new website crush, and shared that they have been wooing me with their pictures, graphics, videos, and words.

Their website nonverbals are killing it, and their snappy word choices warrant a bit of explanation because they are that good. The Roger + Chris website copy “had me at hello”. It’s fun and engaging and makes me feel like I’m are hanging out with my witty best friend.

Plus… I knew I should talk more about my furniture challenges because clearly, you are dying to know about my “couch journey”.

So let's dive in.
Because of all the nonverbals "doing their thing" so effectively on the Roger + Chris website, I felt compelled to reach out to them.

I mean, what’s not to love about two bodybuilders turned furniture builders and design experts?! This alone was enough of a call to action for me to reach out. Yet, it’s their mad design skills that I need so I decided to ask for help.

But… on their website, I noticed that consults are reserved only for the surrounding service area of Nebraska.

Gasp!

So do you know what I did?
I used my words.

I sent Roger + Chris an email inquiring about a potential Zoom call. And because they are awesome, cool, and professional, they agreed to some collaborating.

And here is how I asked them to meet with me despite being out of their consultation range.

The actual email I sent them:

Hello There!

I’m pushing my luck because I live in Wisconsin, well outside of the Nebraska consultation range. But… I’m charming and you’re extremely charming so by the transitive property, we’re basically friends!

My husband and I are needing a new living room set up as we just relocated some heat radiators to make for a more comfortable setup. Now the fun part..furniture! But what to pick in our long, narrow room? Enter your expertise. Would you consider making some recommendations with the assistance of a few measurements and pictures? Or a Zoom call? Please let me know if this is even a possibility.

I heard back within 3 hours...on a Sunday. Yes, they are that good (and, yes, they included an LOL and a laughing emoji)

And four days later we had our first Zoom meeting.

Since then I’ve sent measurements, style preferences, and pictures of our long, bowling alley-like living room.

Why does this matter?

Well, the words that they used on their website prompted my action to reach out. Their copy nonverbals indicated that they are a company that is:

Friendly

Approachable

Professional

Different

Expert at what they do

And that matters.

A lot.

When you can communicate that you are both warm and competent (which is exactly what they did), you have influence.

Well done Roger + Chris. Well done.

Bravo
To recap, we’ve discussed the power that words (aka copy) can have in the digital world. It’s part of body language and sets the tone for your digital interactions. And as we all know, getting someone’s attention is hard in this noisy world of ours.

This leads me to my...

Breaking news!

I’m excited to announce that in a few weeks I’ll be launching my very own online product that can help you build connections via emails. Just like I did with Roger + Chris!

It’s the list of words and phrases that I’ve been compiling and tweaking for years!

Get ready for “Secret Sauce Salutations & Sign Offs”.

I mean, it even worked on strangers like Roger + Chris.

Just sayin’.

Stay tuned as I continue to work through “my furniture purchase journey” and be at the ready for my easy, new product.

Your co-pilot, (who is currently loving the Puddin couch style),

Kristin Bock
